Croft Codex

From Diary Of Lara Croft

Croft Manor
Croft Manor is the house which Lara Croft lives in. Her trust worhty butler, Winston, is always lookingafter it and [in Tomb Raider Legend] Zip & Allistair also worked in the Manor. The Croft Manor was owned byLara's father, Lord Richard Croft. However he went missing in cambodia and remains of a human were found but could not be confirmed as Lara's fathers'. Since the remain werent not offficialy Lord Richard Croft's she couldnt inherit her father's land, money, etc. Hence she was thrust into a legal battle with her unlce Lord Errol Croft. After a lenghtly time she finally inherited her the estate, but at the cost of leaving her estranged from her living relatives. The Croft Manor is only 1 of the 3 Abbingdon estates Lara inherited, out of all of them she finds the Manor to be her true home. Croft Manor made its appearance in CORE's 1st Tomb Raider Game. It was an instant hit, and many fans of the series love it to this day! CORE responded by making the manor in Tomb Raider 2 bigger and better with a new outside training area. Winston the trusty butler also had movements - mainly following Lara and farting by her! With the arrival of Tomb Raider 3 CORE took one step further and included a bigger garden area featuringthe ability of driving vehicles and much more, new rooms were available to explore and the ability to lock Winston inthe freezer was a classic. Unfortunately CORE didnt include the Manor in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicle or Tomb Raider: Angel Of Darkness. It was replaced by a training level in the game, usually the 1stlevel. However the Manor did make an appearance the the 2 Tomb Raider Movies. With the franchise handed to Crystal Dynamics the Manor made its returning debut, but this time with a twist. It was fully based around the Croft Manor in the Tomb Raider Movies, meaning it looked completely different from the 'classic' Croft Manor. The 1st time it appeared in Tomb Raider: Legend, fans loved the gorgeous looks, the moderneffect and the beautiful background music. However they felt it was slightly restricitve as it had no proper outside areaand it had no replay value. Crystal Dnamics made the Croft Manor in Tomb Raider: Anniversary [a tribute to Tomb Raider 1] bigger, better, more secrets, more replay value, hidden rooms, and a full outside area. The Manor was setin the night time. The Croft Manor is not an actual part of them game and is not fully connected to the stories of each TR game.It is just a way of training, having fun, and finding secrets to get rewards, etc.
